The ArcGIS program processes spatially connected data. The data can be visualised on a map in the Map illustration window. The uploaded files are shown in the Table of Contents (TOC) on the left. Each file forms a separate ‘layer’ or ‘map layer’, which you can switch on or off, and whose order can be changed. The files can be loaded by dragging them from the catalog or via add data.
The tool bar shows the frequently used tools such as zooming in and out, searching, identifying, etc. The menu bar shows a classification of the possibilities that ArcGIS offers such as selection tools and geoprocessing tools.
